Three New Classes for 2023!
Join us for a year-long virtual quilt class! Our online Block of the Month classes are mystery quilts, which means you choose your own fabrics (with plenty of guidance!) but you won’t know exactly what the finished quilt looks like until you sew it all together. I promise… it will look great!
Here’s How it Works
Every month, you’ll receive a 12″ quilt block pattern by email. The patterns have step-by-step, full color instructions, and if you need help at any time, you can email me or ask questions in the class’s private Facebook group. After you make each month’s block, you can share it with the rest of us in the group! Over the course of the year, you’ll piece twelve beautiful quilt blocks and some simple setting blocks. In December, you’ll receive the instructions for assembling the blocks into a fabulous quilt top. It’s always so fun to see everyone’s finished work!
NOTE: You do not need to participate in the Facebook group to make the quilt, but it will be much more enjoyable if you do!
Each year-long class is just $30 for the entire year and includes all the patterns as well as membership in a private Facebook group where you’ll get more helpful instruction and techniques.
Discovery, Adventure, or Exploration?
All three Block of the Month classes make bed-size sampler quilts and feature traditional-style blocks in unique settings. Visit each page to see which one is right for you and sign up to get started!
The Discovery Quilt is suitable for a confident beginner. If you can use a rotary cutter and a sewing machine, you can do this! The monthly blocks are interesting and attractive, but they’re all rotary cut and straight-line machine piecing – no templates, curves, applique or foundation paper piecing. It’s a traditional sampler quilt with 12″ blocks in a pleasing arrangement. The finished quilt is 70″ X 91″ with one 3″ border. If you want a bigger quilt, you can easily add another border. The Adventure Quilt is suitable for a confident beginner with some rotary cutting and machine piecing experience. It features 12” blocks that are slightly more complex than those used in the Discovery Quilt. Most of them are my original designs (but still traditional in style.) In addition to the monthly blocks, you will make twenty simple (identical) setting blocks. The setting of this quilt is particularly striking! There are no curved seams, templates, applique, or foundation-pieced blocks. It’s made with three main fabrics and three coordinates. It measures 76” X 93”. LEARN MORE ABOUT THE ADVENTURE QUILT.
The Exploration Quilt is a delightful and unique quilt using five fabrics. It’s suitable for a quilter with rotary cutting and piecing experience. The monthly blocks vary in size and number. There are no separate setting blocks; some months, you will sew several smaller units or blocks instead of one large block. There is no foundation-piecing, but one of the blocks has a simple applique component that can be done on the sewing machine (or by hand if you prefer.)
